"First, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new Meadows Valley School District website! This tool is designed to make it easier than ever to stay informed about school news, upcoming events, and important updates. You’ll find resources for students, parents, and the community all in one convenient place.
Our mobile app is coming soon and will allow you to get notifications right to your phone, whether it’s about schedule changes, special announcements, or even school closures. You can download the app starting sometime next week. We can’t wait for you to check it out!"
New Policy: Student-Owned Electronic Devices
"Next, I want to share an important new District Policy, Policy 3265, which outlines the use of student-owned personal communication devices like smartphones, smartwatches, and tablets on school grounds.
Starting January 27, 2025, this policy will go into effect. Here’s a quick summary:
Purpose: This policy aims to reduce distractions, improve academic focus, and promote responsible use of technology while ensuring student safety.
When Devices Can Be Used: Devices may not be used during the school day. High School students in grades 9-12 are allowed to use devices during their lunch break. Exceptions will be made for emergencies or if required by a student's 504 Plan or IEP.
Where Devices Must Be Stored: When not in use, devices must be turned off and stored in a locker, bag, or designated area.
Discipline for Misuse: Misuse of devices can result in disciplinary action, which may include loss of privileges, detention, or device confiscation. Parents will come to the office to retrieve confiscated student devices at the end of the school day.
You can find the full details of the policy on our new website or by clicking the link, so please take a moment to review it before it goes into effect. Our goal is to create an environment where students can focus on learning without unnecessary distractions.
Encouragement and Gratitude
"We’re so grateful for your ongoing support as we continue to improve and innovate for our students and families. Be sure to explore our new website and feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the new policy.
Thank you for being part of the Mountaineer community—together, we can achieve great things. Let’s make 2025 our best year yet!"
