5th Grade in the snow

Last week, our 4th and 5th graders embarked on a memorable field trip to the McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS), where they experienced hands-on learning in Idaho’s winter landscape.

Students spent the day snowshoeing through the forest, learning about the watershed, and discovering how snow impacts our environment. They learned to calculate Snow Water Equivalency (SWE)—a measurement that helps scientists understand water availability from snowmelt. Along the trails, students also identified local animal tracks, using their observations to piece together wildlife activity in the area.

This immersive experience gave students a deeper appreciation for nature, science, and the environment around them. A huge thank you to MOSS for making this memorable learning adventure possible!
